Travis Jackson Montgomery, AL Obituary, Death, Shooting: It is with heavy hearts, immeasurable sorrow, and deep reverence that we announce the untimely passing of Travis Jackson, a vibrant light in the Montgomery and Atlanta communities, who tragically lost his life to gun violence on the night of April 11, 2025, in Atlanta, Georgia.
Travis, only 35 years old, was so much more than a statistic—he was a son, a father, a friend, a visionary, and a soul who touched countless lives with his energy, compassion, and undeniable brilliance. Born and raised in Montgomery, Alabama, Travis was known for his magnetic spirit from an early age. He was the kind of person who walked into a room and instantly made it feel warmer, lighter, and more alive. That spark never dimmed. From the school hallways to the city streets, and eventually to the bright lights of Atlanta, Travis carried with him the soul of a dreamer and the heart of a fighter.
Travis studied at Alabama State University, where he began shaping his passion for business, creativity, and self-expression. He saw entrepreneurship not only as a means to success but as a way to inspire others, to lift his community, and to show the world what it means to live life richly and authentically. This vision came to life with the creation of his fashion brand, Rich L$fe Clothing, a company that wasn’t just about apparel—but about mindset, legacy, and empowerment.
Rich L$fe Clothing quickly took the streets by storm. Travis infused every design with passion and purpose, turning the brand into a cultural statement. Whether you were from Montgomery or new to Atlanta, chances are you saw someone proudly repping Rich L$fe. That was Travis’s dream: to create something that not only looked good but made people feel good. His entrepreneurial journey wasn’t just about making money—it was about making meaning. He believed in celebrating the richness of life, of self-worth, of hustle, and of community. And he did so unapologetically.
Travis was a son who made his family proud, a father who loved fiercely, and a friend who was there when you needed him most. He was a protector, a provider, and a pillar in the lives of those who knew him. He lit up every event he attended, not just with his sharp style or the iconic Rich L$fe threads, but with his dancing, laughter, and magnetic smile that could brighten even the darkest moments. He was full of life, always finding ways to bring people together, to entertain, to uplift.
His friend, Jeremy Seawright, shared these heartfelt words:
“Moment of silence for our very own Travis Jackson who lost his life on last night to gun violence. Travis was a special person to the city of Montgomery, he was very well known here. He was loved by many. Travis was full of life and would light any event up entertaining them with his dancing skills and smile. He was a great son, father, brother, uncle, friend and very successful entrepreneur. He was the CEO/OWNER of Rich L$fe Clothing which he flooded the streets with his brand. I’m sending my deepest condolences to his wife, kids, family and friends! I pray that God gives you all the strength to get through this tough time. Rest in paradise.”
Travis’s death is a staggering loss—a wound to his family, his friends, his hometown, and the culture he helped shape. His passing is a painful reminder of the fragility of life, and the unjust toll that gun violence continues to take, especially on Black men who are fathers, leaders, and role models in their communities.
Yet even in death, Travis’s legacy shines. He leaves behind a powerful example of what it means to believe in yourself, to bet on your vision, and to pour into your people. His journey from the neighborhoods of Montgomery to the entrepreneurial scene of Atlanta will continue to inspire generations to come.
He is survived by a loving family who cherished every moment with him—his wife, his beautiful children, his parents, siblings, and an extended network of family, cousins, aunts, uncles, and friends who feel this loss with heartbreaking depth. He was the kind of man who made you feel like family, whether you knew him for years or just crossed paths once. He remembered names, shared laughter, offered support, and never forgot where he came from.
To know Travis was to know loyalty. It was to know ambition wrapped in humility. It was to see someone who embraced his roots while reaching for the stars. His Rich L$fe wasn’t about material wealth—it was about living fully, loving deeply, and leading by example. He lived a life rich in character, in generosity, in resilience, and in hope.
There will be a memorial service held in Montgomery, with details to be announced in the coming days. Friends, family, and community members from near and far are invited to come celebrate Travis’s life—the moments he gave us, the impact he made, and the dreams he set into motion. There will also be a candlelight vigil in Atlanta, to honor where he built his legacy and to mourn where he was tragically taken.
To honor Travis is to keep building. To support his children. To wear his brand with pride. To dance a little harder at the next family function. To show up for one another. To live, truly live, the Rich L$fe he so passionately believed in. As the city of Montgomery mourns one of its brightest lights, and Atlanta says goodbye to a rising icon, we ask that you continue to hold Travis’s family in your prayers. May God grant them strength, peace, and healing during this devastating time.
